In February 1996, Targeted Institutional Ownership Analysis launched a subscription series of quarterly reports on Canadian public-company share ownership by institutional investors. In 1997 the printed reports moved to compact disc, with modest data-management software. Targeted then built a website to sell the data on a user-fee basis, and expanded the file to the current holdings of equities traded in Canada.

Targeted Inc. is wholly Canadian. It provides institutional and other significant holdings for securities trading in Canada, at a price a desk can pay.
